Curriculum Overview

Early Literacy

Early literacy is the foundation of our Kindergarten program. Instruction includes:

  • Phonemic awareness (rhyming, syllables, sounds)

  • Phonics-based reading instruction

  • Letter recognition and sound mastery

  • Early writing skills, including drawing, labeling, and sentence formation

  • Listening comprehension and oral language development

Students engage with a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts and are encouraged to discuss, retell, and respond to what they read.

Mathematics

Kindergarten math instruction focuses on conceptual understanding and real-world application. Students learn through hands-on activities, manipulatives, and games that develop:

  • Number recognition and counting

  • Comparing quantities

  • Patterns and shapes

  • Measurement and sorting

  • Early problem-solving skills

Science & Social Studies

Science and social studies are taught through weekly themes that encourage curiosity, observation, and discussion. Students explore topics such as:

  • Weather and seasons

  • Community helpers and citizenship

  • Earth, space, and the natural world

Lessons emphasize asking questions, making observations, and understanding how the world works.
